Belgium international Dries Mertens has opened the door to join Chelsea as he favours a move to the English capital this summer.
Mertens' current deal with Napoli expires in a few months' time and he has declined to put pen-to-paper on the contract extension.
As a result, he has been heavily linked with a Premier League move with either Liverpool or Chelsea but the latter seem to have the advantage.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has been in regular contact with Mertens this month and according to Tuttosport, the forward is open to a move to a London-based club.
Mertens has been injured on a few occasions this term but he has still managed to contribute a tally of 12 goals and nine assists from 29 appearances for his club.
He is currently Napoli's joint all-time scorer with 121 goals and will be hoping to own the record when the current campaign resumes after the coronavirus shutdown.
Mertens was heavily fancied to join the Blues during the 2020 winter transfer window but ultimately, he made the decision to stay put in Naples for the season with the goalscoring feat on his mind.
