Arsenal aiming to recoup funds for Partey purchase

Arsenal trying to raise funds for number one target?

05 July 2020 - 21:40

Arsenal are reportedly aiming to raise funds for the purchase of midfielder Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid in the next transfer window.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Partey is said to be keen on joining the Gunners this summer, but the club are currently not in a position to trigger the £45m release clause on his contract.

Still, they are very positive about their chances of signing the Ghana international and The Mail claims that they could offload at least one player to recoup funds for the player's signature.

Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira and Alexandre Lacazette are among the first-team stars, who are facing uncertain futures with the club and it is reported that one of them could be sold.

Guendouzi's attitude on and off the playing field has seen him dropped from Mikel Arteta's matchday squads in recent weeks and he appears the likely candidate to head for the exit door.

Torreira's agent, on the other hand, has regularly talked up the midfielder's desire to return to Italy and it won't come as a surprise, if the Uruguayan also makes the move away from the Emirates.
