Crouch won't join Roma

10 April 2008 - 21:48

After Peter Crouch had been linked this week with a move from Liverpool to Italian giants Roma, the striker's agent revealed that the player would not be willing to make the move to the club, insisting that a move to Serie A would be a 'step in the wrong direction'.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • “First of all we have to remember that Peter has a contract at Liverpool until 2011 and that he plays for one of the best teams in the world,” agent Jonathan Barnett stated.

“Therefore, it is difficult for him to think about leaving. Peter has only said that we will sit down and see what to do at the end of the season.

“As for Roma, the English League is the a lot more competitive than Serie A at the moment, so to leave Liverpool would mean going to an inferior club.

“There has been no contact with Roma, but Peter has to know that this move would be a relegation.”
