Leeds United to make move for Julian Draxler

08 September 2020 - 16:11

Leeds United have made a shock transfer move for Germany international Julian Draxler, who has fallen down the pecking order with Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain. Draxler, who has two years remaining on his contract, is open to either a loan or a permanent move to England.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • With reports that Spanish side Valencia had been seeking a loan move for Draxler, Leeds' management team have entered the race and have informed PSG that they are ready to make a move for the player.

The 26-year-old is said to be ready to move elsewhere in search of first-team football after failing to dislodge Neymar and Kylian Mbappe as the club's primary attacking players.

Leeds' manager Marcelo Bielsa is said to be a huge fan of the player and is confident that a deal can be reached. Having already signed Rodrigo from Valencia this summer, the Elland Road outfit are ready to add further attacking impetus to their squad and it is understood Draxler is absolutely their primary target.

German manager Joachim Low recently informed the press that he believed Draxler should leave PSG: “It would be important for Julian to take a step forward.

"He is coming to an age where he needs to play regularly.

"A player needs to play week after week to be successful in the long run."
