Chelsea are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Rennes over the potential signing of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The Senegal international has already agreed to personal terms with the Blues and a move could materialise in the near future.
Earlier this month, the west London side failed with an opening bid of £15m for his services, but ESPN claims that they are now close to sealing the deal.
The club are willing to pay an initial £18m for the 28-year-old shot-stopper and the deal could rise to £25m based on add-ons.
Mendy's move is likely to be finalised in the next few days and he should take over the number one role from Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Kepa had an average 2019/2020 season, where he managed a save percentage of only 54.5 over the course of the league campaign.
In comparison, Mendy saved 78 percent of the shots at him for Rennes last term and he should provide an instant upgrade in goal for the Blues.
