Chelsea reportedly failed with an attempt to sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan during the recent international transfer window.

  • The Blues bolstered their attack significantly this summer with the signings of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz.

Still, it appears that they were keen on adding another striker to the ranks, but they could not secure a deal for Martinez.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the west London side made contact with the Nerazzurri for Martinez, who was valued in the region of £90m.

However, the Argentine snubbed the interest from the Blues as he was only prepared to join Barcelona or Real Madrid during the transfer window.

Martinez has nearly three years remaining on his contract, but the Nerazzurri are already planning negotiations over an improved deal.

It is unclear whether he will accept a renewal, considering both the Blaugrana and Los Blancos could return for his services next summer.

Martinez netted 21 goals from 49 appearances for Inter last season.
