Chelsea without four important players for Atletico Madrid clash

16 March 2021 - 20:28

Chelsea will be without four first-team stars for the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The west London giants are unbeaten in the past 13 games in all competitions and they have won nine of those.

They are scheduled to host Atletico in the second leg of the Champions League last 16 tomorrow, but will be without four players.

Both Mason Mount and Jorginho are suspended after reaching the yellow card limit for a one-game European ban.

Meanwhile, Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham remain sidelined with hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.

Tuchel in his pre-match press conference stated that the duo won't return to action until after the international break later this month.

The Blues secured a 1-0 win against Atletico in the first leg. Olivier Giroud bagged the precious away goal with a superb overhead kick.

Since Tuchel arrived in January, the club have kept 10 clean sheets from 12 games and will fancy another shut-out tomorrow.
