Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has decided to offload midfielder Lucas Torreira before the transfer deadline, football.london claims.
The Uruguayan was deemed surplus to requirements last term, and he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid for the season.
Torreira barely played for the Spanish champions over the entire campaign.
The midfielder recently expressed an interest in playing for the Gunners again, but Arteta has clearly stated that he is not in his plans.
The Gunners have told his agent to look at potential transfer offers. It appears that Torreira could return to the Serie A this summer.
Lazio are admirers of the South American star, but they could face strong competition from arch-rivals Roma for his services.
Roma failed in their attempts to land Granit Xhaka earlier this summer. Jose Mourinho has now urged the club to land Torreira.
Torreira's tireless work rate could be a reason behind the transfer pursuit. The Gunners could sell him for around €15 million.
