Manchester United attacker fears he could miss out on January exit

21 September 2021 - 20:20

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial fears he could miss out on leaving the club during the winter transfer window.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The 25-year-old has played just 100 minutes across all competitions this season, and he is no longer a guaranteed starter.

He is free to leave the Red Devils permanently in January, but there could be obstacles towards his potential departure.

Martial is currently on staggering wages of around £250,000-a-week. United have reportedly set an asking price of £40m.

This could prove a stumbling block towards a mid-season exit. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have been linked with his services.

The latter are long-term admirers of him, and it is claimed that they could make an approach for him at the turn of the year.

However, considering their financial troubles, they may only propose an initial loan deal that may be rejected by the Red Devils.

Martial has made just one start in the Premier League this term. He is currently the fourth-choice striker in the club's ranks.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani could all feature ahead of him up front when fit and available.
