AC Milan and Atalanta could go head-to-head to sign Liverpool striker Divock Origi at the end of the season.
The Belgian has been an impact substitute for the Reds this term with winning goals against AC Milan and Wolves.
Despite this, he has no plans of extending his stay as he wants assurances of regular game time from the starting XI.
His current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but a mid-season exit appears unlikely to happen at the moment.
The Reds will lose Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah due to African Cup of Nations duty, and they will need Origi's services.
Hence, Milan and Atalanta may only sign him on a free transfer. However, they can negotiate a pre-contract in January itself.
Milan are eyeing a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Origi is regarded as a suitable successor to the Swede.
Meanwhile, Atalanta want the Belgian as a replacement for Luis Muriel, who could head for the exit door next summer.
