Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has been in contact with Presnel Kimpembe over a summer move to Stamford Bridge.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender has two years remaining on his contract, and talks seem to have stalled over a renewal.
This has led to suggestions that the club could sell him, and Foot Mercato claim that Chelsea are currently the front-runners.
Kimpembe is open to moving to the Premier League this summer, and the Blues are in the lead due to Tuchel's presence.
Tuchel previously managed Kimpembe at Paris Saint-Germain. The German is now said to be urging him to join the Blues.
Chelsea still have work to do to sign Kimpembe. Paris Saint-Germain are looking for at least £50 million to sell the centre-back.
The 26-year-old would be a top signing for Chelsea with his strong aerial presence, ability to clear his lines and superb passing.
Being left-footed, he could feature on the left side of the back three, a position where Antonio Rudiger excelled before leaving the club.
