French star says he was lucky to avoid Manchester United transfer

18 November 2022 - 21:07

Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has said that he was lucky to avoid a move to the Premier League with Manchester United this summer.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Red Devils agreed a fee of around €17m for Rabiot in the last transfer window, but talks broke down on personal terms with the midfielder.

As a result, United went on to sign Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Brazilian has turned out to be a superb acquisition for the Premier League side.

Meanwhile, Rabiot's decision to continue at Juventus has also been a blessing in disguise. His form has been quite spectacular in the current season.

The 27-year-old has chipped in with five goals and two assists from 16 games for the Bianconeri while he has also excelled with his passing accuracy.

He has now expressed his delight over his current status, he said: "It's true, there were contacts with Premier League clubs, but in the end, I was lucky to stay, perhaps it was the best decision."

With Paul Pogba and N'Golo Kante out injured, Rabiot is set to play a leading role for France at the World Cup. Back in 2018, he never made the 26-man cut.
