Chelsea are planning to swap Romelu Lukaku to sign Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella this summer.

Lukaku spent the recent campaign on loan with Inter Milan. He had a difficult season, but found his form towards the end.

The Nerazzurri are open to re-signing him for another year, but the Blues currently prefer his permanent departure.

It is now reported by Gazzetta dello Sport that the Blues are looking to negotiate a swap agreement with Inter.

They are prepared to allow Lukaku to rejoin them permanently if they permit Barella to move the other way.

It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will consider the proposal. They could prefer to sell Barella instead.

The San Siro giants are currently facing financial issues and they are ready to sanction a couple of big-money sales.

Newcastle United are also interested in signing Barella and they could be his next destination instead of the Blues.
