Arrizabalaga wants Chelsea stay this summer

Kepa Arrizabalaga has clear stance over Chelsea future

27 June 2023 - 21:08

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is determined to fight for his place under manager Mauricio Pochettino next season.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • The Spain international was the Blues' regular goalkeeper during the second half of last season ahead of Edouard Mendy.

Mendy has recently been sold to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli, but Arrizabalaga is in no mood to consider a fresh challenge.

According to Daily Mail, the 28-year-old has decided to stay put with the Blues and wants to compete for a starting role.

Arrizabalaga has a strong relationship with Pochettino's goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez, and believes he could improve him.

Chelsea were interested in signing Inter Milan star Andre Onana this month, but they have cooled their pursuit in recent days.

The Nerazzurri want at least €50m up front for the Cameroonian, and the Blues are reluctant to make such an outlay for him.

Brentford's David Raya is one of the alternative options that the Blues could consider to offer competition to Arrizabalaga.
