Former Spain captain and leading goalscorer Raul has not made the cut for the Euro 2008 tournament in Austria and Switzerland. The move comes as a big surprise considering that Raul had received heaps of praise from his international teammates prior to the tournament.
"It isn't a case of ending the debate over Raul. I focus on the players not the clubs. There are other players who have scored more goals (than Raul) per minutes played, and they aren't coming either," Aragones said.
Raul has been influential in helping secure the La Liga title for Real Madrid this season, but it seems as if his efforts have gone unnoticed as Luis Aragones decided to drop the player.
The 30 year old has not played for the international side since the defeat to Northern Ireland in September 2006.
