Arsenal are lining up a surprise move for Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy during the summer transfer window.
The Gunners currently have Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior as options in the left-back role.
Jurrien Timber is also capable of playing in the department, but he is currently recovering after a serious knee ligament injury.
Despite the vast options, the club continue to be linked with left-backs and Mendy has now emerged as a potential target.
The 28-year-old has been a key player for Los Blancos despite his injury issues. He has made 31 appearances this term.
He could, however, move on this summer with the Spanish giants having their sights on bringing Alphonso Davies from Bayern.
Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the developments and could swoop for the Frenchman if an opportunity arises later this year.
The arrival of Mendy could lead to a potential exit. Kiwior could make way amid interest from multiple clubs in Serie A.
