Liverpool are eyeing an ambitious move for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins this summer, according to The Sun.
The Merseyside giants finished third in the Premier League last season with 82 points after a poor end to the season.
They lacked the cutting edge in front of goal and Nunez was one of those who was hugely disappointing in the final third.
It is now reported that new manager Arne Slot is a huge admirer of Watkins and will urge the hierarchy to make a move.
The 28-year-old was sensational for Unai Emery's side last season, scoring 27 goals and providing 13 assists in 53 games.
The Villans want to keep Watkins ahead of their Champions League return, but the Reds could test their resolve with a huge bid.
A package of around £80 million could persuade the Villans to sell him.
Should the Reds succeed in signing Watkins, they could open the door for the sale of Nunez, who scored 18 goals last term.
Chelsea made a tentative enquiry for Nunez last summer and the Blues could consider a renewed approach for his services.
