Chelsea have reportedly made a bid for Italy under-20 international defensive midfielder Luca Lipani, currently plying his trade at Sassuolo, with a deal worth a reported 10 million euros on the table. The 19-year-old Genoa-born player arrived at his current team only last summer, but Chelsea scouts have been hugely impressed with the youngster and hope to complete a deal before the transfer window closes.
It has been reported that The Blues could even send Lipani back to Sassuolo for a season on loan and then bring the central midfielder to Stamford Bridge next summer, as Chelsea continue signing young talent from all over the world.
Sassuolo paid around 3 million euros for Lipani last season and are set to make a decent profit on a player who had only recently made the step up to the club's first-team and appeared eight times in Serie A last season.
Comfortable playing as a defensive midfielder or as a deep lying playmaker, Lipani is versatile and strong defensively and has shown potential going forward.
