Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged that the Blues don't deserve to be playing in the Champions League at the current point of time.
The Blues have been brilliant at the beginning of their Conference League campaign. They have won their games against Gent and Panathinaikos with four goals scored.
Speaking after the 4-1 win against the latter, Maresca was asked whether Chelsea should be in the Champions League this term instead of the Conference League.
He was quite genuine with his answer. The Italian stated that the Blues don't deserve Champions League football at the moment and will need to earn the right to play there.
He said: "Can I ask a question to you? If we are a Champions League club, then why are we playing Conference League?
"I think football always puts you where you deserve to be. If we play Conference then it's because we deserve it."
Chelsea will be back in Premier League action on Sunday against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will be aiming to return to winning ways in the top-flight following an away defeat at Liverpool.
