Arsenal have suffered a big blow with Gabriel Martinelli sidelined for one month with a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic.
The Gunners bowed out of the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage in midweek. Newcastle beat them 2-0 in the second leg to secure a 4-0 aggregate triumph.
In the same game, Martinelli was substituted early in the opening half with a hamstring issue. It is now confirmed that he will be out of action for four weeks at least.
The Brazilian's absence is a huge blow for the Gunners, considering they are already without Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus with setbacks.
Saka is poised to return at some point next month, but Jesus could be sidelined for the remainder of the year with a serious knee issue.
With Martinelli's absence, 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri could have an extended role from the right wing over the coming weeks at least.
Raheem Sterling has been in poor form during his loan spell, but the Englishman will have to step up over the forthcoming games too.
