Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams has no plans of joining Arsenal during the summer transfer window, according to Sport.
The Spaniard has been one of the best wingers in La Liga and Arsenal have identified him as an ideal target for the left wing role.
However, they have yet to find any breakthrough with the player.
The Gunners are ready to pay his release clause worth £50 million, but the 22-year-old is very reluctant to go abroad next season.
Williams would ideally prefer to join Barcelona instead, but the Catalan giants are looking for a cheaper alternative this summer.
Hence, it is most likely that the forward will continue at Athletic. He is very happy at his boyhood club and could renew his contract.
The news is a huge setback for the Gunners, who have been following his progress closely over the past one-and-a-half seasons.
Manager Mikel Arteta is a big admirer of the attacker, but the club may have to look elsewhere to bolster the left wing department.
