Manchester United have decided against pursuing a deal for wantaway Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer, according to journalist Chris Wheeler.
The Red Devils are in the transfer market for a new striker this summer and they have been linked with the likes of Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson in the last few days.
United have now been presented with a brilliant opportunity to land Isak, who wants to leave the Magpies, but the club have decided against entering the race for the Swede.
The Magpies are expected to demand a hefty package of £150 million to part ways with their prized asset and United are not in a position to match that kind of a figure.
They have already made a huge outlay of £130m to purchase Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and are expected to prefer a low-cost striker acquisition now.
Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta could be a possible solution. He has two years left on his contract and could be signed for £40 million.
