Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Karl Hein has signed for Werder Bremen on a season-long loan deal.
The Estonia international spent the previous campaign on loan with Rayo Vallecano where he made 32 appearances.
Hein has now secured another loan stint with Bremen and it is unclear whether there is an option to buy as part of the deal.
Per Mertesacker reportedly played a key role in the transfer due to his strong association with Bremen from his playing days.
Hein is expected to be the second-choice keeper for Bremen, but he will be hoping to break into the starting XI this season.
The 23-year-old's current deal with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2026, but the club have an option to extend for 12 months.
Alongside Hein, the likes of Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior and Albert Lokonga are set to leave.
Vieira and Nelson are most likely to leave on loan deals. The duo are attracting interest from Stuttgart and Fulham respectively.
