Osimhen once again linked with Chelsea

Chelsea plan summer move for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea are once again being linked with Victor Osimhen, and this is the kind of rumour that will not go away until the club finally signs a proven elite striker or the Nigerian commits fully to staying where he is.

  • Osimhen has been on Chelsea's radar for several windows, and the logic is obvious. The Blues have signed plenty of young attacking talent, but they still lack a ruthless, peak-age centre-forward who can turn pressure into goals. Osimhen would instantly change that. He brings pace, aggression, penalty-box movement, aerial power and the personality of a striker who expects to score every week.

Now at Galatasaray, Osimhen has continued to prove that he is one of Europe's most reliable finishers. His loan spell in Turkey was outstanding, with 37 goals and eight assists in 41 games across all competitions. Since making the move permanent, he has remained a dominant figure, scoring regularly in the league and in Europe. That consistency is exactly why Chelsea continue to be mentioned.

Chelsea's current attack has talent, but there are still questions over whether they have a striker who can deliver 25 to 30 goals in a season. Nicolas Jackson has improved, while other forwards offer pace and flexibility, but Osimhen is different. He is a natural No.9, someone who lives for chances in the box and gives defenders a physically horrible afternoon. For a Chelsea side that often creates openings but lacks killer instinct, that appeal is huge.

The financial side would be difficult. Galatasaray paid around €75m to sign Osimhen from Napoli, making him the most expensive player in Turkish football history. Any Chelsea bid would likely need to be in that region or higher, especially with Galatasaray having no reason to sell cheaply. A package worth €75m to €90m could be required, depending on bonuses, salary demands and how strongly the player pushes for the move.

There would also be competition. Saudi clubs have long admired Osimhen and could offer enormous wages, while Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked in the past. Arsenal have also looked at centre-forward options, although whether they would enter this race is another matter.
