Ljungberg quits Sweden

Ljungberg quits Sweden

28 June 2008 - 15:34

West Ham midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg has decided to call time on his international career with Sweden. The former Arsenal midfielder could not call on his experience to lead the Swedes to euro 2008 glory, and has now decided to concentrate on club football.

  • Chelsea tipped to make shock move for Marcus Rashford
  • Man Utd believe they can sign Bournemouth star for £64m
  • "The simple fact is the physical strain of playing on the national team and in club football for such a long time has finally taken its toll," he admitted.

"And that is why I have decided to concentrate on playing for West ham United and that is where my focus will be.

"I will carry on playing football at the highest level in the Premier League for several more years and I love this sport more than anything."
