Wenger: Ronaldo will stay

29 June 2008 - 15:29

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told the Sunday Mirror that he believes Man Utd winger Cristiano Ronaldo will be staying at the club next year. Real Madrid have made their interest in the Portugal international public, and United are keen to hang on to the Premiership's top scorer. Rival coach Arsene Wenger feels that Ronaldo will stay.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • "I think Ronaldo will stay at United because I cannot see the club making the kind of statements they have made if they have no assurance from Ronaldo that he will stay,” the Arsenal boss told the Sunday Mirror.

"Once a club of their stature say he will stay, he has to stay.

“If he doesn't stay you look weak, weaker than if you said nothing at all."
