Mexes to Arsenal?

Mexes to Arsenal?

22 July 2008 - 15:10

Arsenal are supposedly set to make a huge offer for AS Roma's talented French centre back Philippe Mexes, as rumours begin to circulate that Arsene Wenger has lost patience with captain William Gallas.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Arsenal boss was interested in the French international defender when he was playing for Auxerre, but failed to make an official bid for the player then.

Now Wenger is set to test Roma's resolve and launch a massive £12 million offfer for the 26 year old defender; regarded by many to be one of the best defenders in Europe at the moment.

Mexes has enjoyed plenty of success at Roma, including the Coppa Italia in 2007 and 2008 with the Romans.
