The FA has rejected Chelsea and John Obi Mikel's appeal against the red card he picked up in the defeat to Man Utd at the weekend at Old Trafford.
Mikel was sent off by referee Mike Dean during Chelsea's 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday for a challenge on Patrice Evra.
Chelsea immediately confirmed they would be filing an official appeal to the FA.
However, the FA's disciplinary commission met on Tuesday to discuss Mikel's appeal and have upheld Dean's original decision, and the player will begin a three match ban starting with the Carling Cup match against Hull City this Wednesday.
