Acid Test for Hughes

Acid Test for Hughes

11 November 2008 - 14:54

Manchester City's under fire manager, Mark Hughes, is in talks with the Abu Dhabi United Group on his future at the club.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Mark Hughes' job has been under jeopardy of late, with the club losing the last three matches in the Premier League. Man City find themselves in 13th position in the league despite having international heavy-weights like Robinho.

Hughes flew to the middle east today morning to hold talks with the club's rich owner Sheikh Mansoor. Although he received vote of confidence from the club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak last day, the club owner's said that they trust Hughes.

"We are here to support and make financial decisions, but we are not here to teach Mark what to do. We trust him and we are going to support him." said Mubarak

Latest news suggest that Hughes would address the need to spend more money in the winter transfer to add more depth to the squad.

In addition to this, Hughes has to sort out the issues regarding play-maker Elano. The Brazilian has not played in the last few games and has let the manager know about his frustration.

He said that he want to help the club by playing.

" I have many friends here and get on with the team 100 per cent. I respect the manager a lot but I cannot be happy if I don't play." said Elano.
