van Basten linked to Chelsea

26 September 2007 - 10:05

Marco van Basten has been linked to become the new manager of Premiership side Chelsea. van Basten currently manages the international side, but it is believed Frank Arnesen and Peter Kenyon both wish to see him in the hotseat.

  • Chelsea defender on his way to Leeds United?
  • Chelsea ready to hand Nicolas Jackson fresh chance
  • Fabio Capello had commented on van Basten, "Arnesen wants Van Basten to take over and has already recommended Marco to Abramovich. Frank and Marco know each other well from their time in Dutch football.”

Van Basten, 40, had privately insisted that it was mere coincidence he was sitting close to Abramovich on Sunday, saying that he was there as a gusrt of United's.
