Hoeness slams Podolski

Hoeness slams Podolski

26 September 2007 - 15:30

Lukas Podolski has been slammed by Bayern Munich's general manager over claims that the German international striker has said he has "nothing left to prove".

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "When I read interviews where he says he does not need to prove anything anymore, I think he could not be further from the mark" Hoeneß revealed.

"He has actually not achieved anything and if his attitude does not change a lot, then he will not make it here."

Podolski finds himself on the bench behind Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose, and a record of 4 goals in 25 appearances does not speak very well of the highly-rated striker.

Hoeness, although aware of his qualities, has given Podolski a deadline to prove his worth to the club.

"He must now take the next step and he has got to explode" he said. "In the next six to eight months, he has got to show whether he can make it or not. Now is the time for us to get tough with him."
