Porto 3-0 Maritimo

04 May 2009 - 12:27

FC Porto continued their reign at top after beating Maritimo comfortably at the Dragao. Porto are six points clear of a second placed Sporting.

  • Chelsea defender on his way to Leeds United?
  • Chelsea ready to hand Nicolas Jackson fresh chance
  • Portugese midfielder, Raul Miereles, gave the champions the lead by a low driven grounder, which should have been saved by Marcos. This attempt came right after a thunderous Bruno Alves shot hit the post.

Athough the half-time score was 1-0, Porto enjoyed the majority of the game, and they doubled the lead in the 64th minute. Cristian Rodriguez curled a free-kick in which Rolando guided into the net with his head.

Tomas Costa added anothe in the 83rd minute in a swift counter-attack move.

Porto have 63 points in 27 matches and could win their fourth successive title if they can get past Nacional at the Dragao in the next match.
