Aston Villa close in on Parker move

Aston Villa are believed to have agreed an £8m fee with West Ham for England international midfielder Scott Parker. Tottenham have been chasing the player but it appears Aston Villa have won the race for his signature.

The Villains were reportedly locked in talks with West Ham last week, and Parker has decided to travel to Birmingham to discuss terms with Aston Villa and new boss Alex Mcleish.

Parker, West Ham's player of the year last season, had told colleagues that he would not be playing for the Hammers in the Championship and will move to a Premier League side.

Parker is expected to put pen to paper on a £55,000 per week deal at Villa Park.
