Ryan Giggs to sign new contract

Manchester United stalwart Ryan Giggs has claimed that despite his age, he is looking to sign a contract extension.

Now 37, Giggs has made more appearances for United than anyone else and has come a long way since he made his first appearance in 1991.

He has won the 12 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 8 Community Shields, 2 Champions League crowns and also the FIFA Club World Cup.

On a personal level he has won both the PFA Young Player of the Year and PFA Player of the Year awards. He has been selected in the PFA Team of the Year six times and was named in the Premier League team of the decade (1992-93 to 2001-02). He has also been selected in the UEFA Champions League 10 Seasons Dream Team (1992-2002) and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2005.

It would come as no surprise if Ferguson were to agree to have such a distinguished player in his team the next year as well.

Giggs claimed that he will soon open talks for a one year extension to his current deal.

"After Christmas I will go to Sir Alex Ferguson's office and we'll talk about my renewal," he told calciomercato.com

"I have a wonderful relationship with him. He's an exceptional person. He is always the first to arrive in the morning and is always willing to listen.

"I have spoken to him for a few minutes about extending my contract for another year.

"I want to play again, I care for nothing more than playing for my team."
