Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has backed Jordan Henderson to show the kind of form that persuaded the Anfield giants to spend 16m on the midfielder, and expects Henderson to recover after a slow start at his new club.

Kenny Dalglish remains confident that Jordan Henderson will only go from strength to strength after the return to action of Liverpool team mate Steven Gerrard.

Henderson has not instantly settled in the Liverpool line up, but Dalglish hopes Gerrard's return will be important for Henderson's development: "I have always said that with Steven Gerrard in the squad we’re better for it – and that includes everybody. There certainly isn’t anyone better for Jordan to learn from.

"If he takes something out of Stevie’s book, I look forward to seeing that. He’s much better off now. It was a big, big move for anyone – a young boy leaving their only club to come and play for Liverpool.

"I think he’s been a great credit to himself and will be a fantastic asset to this football club for years to come. He’s really come to the fore now, got his feet under the table and he’s feeling pretty settled. We will get huge benefit from that.

"He’s settled down now, everything’s cleared up, he’s fit and I think we can see he’s going to make a huge contribution for years."
