Mark Hughes top of the list for Sunderland

Former Fulham manager Mark Hughes is the newest name to have been linked with a move to Sunderland. Hughes has been out of work since the end of last season, when he famously quit the Cottagers as he pursued the then vacant Chelsea role.
Mark Hughes is reportedly delighted to hear that his name is near the top of Sunderland's shortlist, and will instruct his agent to thrash out terms with the Black Cats as soon as tomorrow.
Ellis Short, Sunderland's owner and chairman, decided to part ways with Steve Bruce yesterday after a disappointing start to the new season.
Sunderland are desperate to turn around a so far disappointing Premier League season, and currently sit in 16th place.
