Spurs: Kemsley denies rumour

Paul Kemsley has denied his resignation as Tottenham vice-chairman had anything to do with his involvement in Spurs' meeting with Juande Ramos. The rumour circulated after several media channels reported that his meeting undermined Martin Jol's position at the club.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "That's absolute nonsense. To be honest, I had outgrown the position. I am not a number two any more, and it was becoming a distraction.

"My number one appetite is for Rock (his property company), and I am spending a lot of time in America. With all the time I was spending at Spurs as well, I was running out of time with my kids."

Reports on Thursday morning claim Spurs' majority shareholder Joe Lewis has agreed in principle to sell his stake in the club to a Far East investor, with a deal to go through at the end of the season.
