Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan has been linked with a shock move to Premier League side Stoke City. The Belgian midfielder has played in Italy since 2007, where he enjoyed a spell with Piacenza. After that, Nainggolan eventually completed a move to Serie A side Cagliari in 2010.

A report in Italy suggests that club scouts have been impressed with the Belgian's displays in midfield for Italian side Cagliari, and will now submit a transfer offer for the player.

The 23 year old is comfortable playing anywhere in midfield, but his preferred position is in the middle of the park. Born of Indonesian heritage in Antwerp, the player holds Belgian nationality and therefore will not require a work permit to play in the Premier League.

Nainggolan earned his first cap for Belgium back in 2009, and followed that up with another cap for his country. Since then, the midfielder has yet to force his way back into Belgium's international plans, but the talented midfielder remains hopeful that a move to the Premier League will do his international ambitions no harm.

Stoke City could initially sign the player on loan until July; they will then consider a permanent move for the player. Nainggolan is valued at around £3.4 million GBP by Cagliari.
