QPR make last ditch effort to sign Bassong
Queens Park Rangers have opened negotations with Tottenham for the transfer of unhappy French centre back Sebastien Bassong. The former Newcastle man nearly joined QPR last summer, but Spurs cancelled the transfer at the last minute.
QPR manager Mark Hughes is a big fan of Bassong and has now turned to the Cameroon international as a solution to his defensive woes. The R's have already signed four players so far this year, and are expected to bring in another two more before the transfer window slams shut tomorrow night.
The 25-year-old has told his agent to ensure a move away from Tottenham is completed before the end of the transfer window, and that does not depend on whether or not QPR can agree a transfer fee with Spurs as other clubs are also monitoring the player's situation closely.
