Fulham readying Darren Bent offer
Fulham manager Martin Jol has persuaded club chairman Mohamed Al Fayed to bankroll a move for Aston Villa's wantaway striker Darren Bent. The England international is available for around £5 million.
Fulham are known to have little money to spend in this summer's transfer window, but Dutch manager Jol has discussed budgets with the board and has insisted that the Cottagers must sign a striker to remain competitive next year.
With Berbatov at the Cottagers already, Jol sees Bent as a perfect strike partner for the Bulgarian.
Fulham are believed to have made their first offer for Bent of £3.5 million, which has been rejected, but Villa will accept £4 million.
