Borussia Dortmund in for Manchester United and Liverpool target

The UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga runners-up Borussia Dortmund are set to beat Manchester United and Liverpool to the signing of highly rated Danish International Christian Eriksen.

The Ajax midfield star is highly monitored as he is one of the best young players in Europe, and has been linked with a number of top quality sides.

He was expected to move to the Barclays English Premier League this summer but Dortmund are now at the top of the list of admirers as they look for a replacement for Mario Gotze, who is joining Bayern Munich when the transfer window opens.

Fresh from a Champions League agonising final defeat, the club are planning for the future and manager Jurgen Klopp will be eager to fix a deal for Eriksen as soon as possible.

But recently Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has reacted with "astonishment" at suggestions that a deal has been completed to sign Christian Eriksen from Ajax.

"I've read [the Eriksen rumours] with astonishment as well," the 50-year-old told Ruhr Nachrichten, adding: "However, the player [De Bruyne] wants to join us."

According to reports in Germany, the Bundesliga side are still interested on the player and will offer the 21-year-old Ajax ace a five-year-deal.
