Man Utd swoop for Geoffrey Kondogbia

Manchester United’s new manager David Moyes has so far wasted no time in trying to bag talented players with huge potential. Moyes is believed to have began talks with La Liga side Sevilla over a potential move for their midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

The 20-year-old is also being keenly monitored by Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City. Kondogbia has been on the transfer shortlist of a host of other high profile clubs, but his hefty price tag of £15m has reportedly deterred most of his admirers from making a bid for him.

Kondogbia was recently quoted by SkySports, saying: "I am flattered to be linked with Real Madrid...Chelsea are also a great team."

Frenchman’s words suggested that the Europa League winners Chelsea might be his preferred destination in England, but Moyes is believed to be ready to make a move for the player before any other team does.

Local paper Diario de Sevilla has gone to the limit of saying that the negotiations between the Premier League champions Manchester United and Sevilla are positive with a transfer possible in the near future.

Moyes needs a solid and strong defensive midfielder to fill in for Michael Carrick during crucial times. Phil Jones could also play in that position, but the Manchester United manager is keen on turning his attentions on a move for Kondogbia, who could feature in a deep role in front of the backline.

The Frenchman has made 37 appearances for his club last season and has also represented France at all youth levels.

Kondogbia has a deal with his present club till June 2017.
