Rooney Set For Talks With Moyes On Tuesday

David Moyes' six-year contract with Manchester United officially began on Monday and his first priority as manager would be to settle the much talked about Rooney matter.

Rooney and his representatives are believed to be ready to to hold future talks with the Scot on Tuesday when they expect to come to a conclusion about his future. It is understood that Moyes wants Rooney to stay at Old Trafford but the 27-year-old seems intent on leaving the club.

Wayne made a switch to Manchester United in 2004 from Everton and has since then been an important player for the club. But after the rough patch with United and Sir Alex Ferguson last season, he would be hoping to find a better place to revive his form ahead of the World cup in 2014.

Many European clubs would have eyes on Tuesday's crunch talks as they would be hoping to seize a summer move. It has already been suggested that both Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on landing the striker.

But it is debatable as United would be reluctant to sell the 27-year-old to their domestic competitors. United, would rather prefer Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid’s interest in their star player as Rooney’s would be a costly deal, expected to be in the range of £35m.

Moreover, Arsenal are unwilling to meet the present weekly wage demand of the striker, although they seem prepared to spend freely on his transfer. They would also make him the highest paid player in the club with a weekly wage of around £170,000.
