Phil Neville Appointed New Coach For Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed Phil Neville as their new first-team coach. David Moyes has hired the 36-year-old as a part of his coaching staff.

Neville has linked up with former Everton boss Moyes at United, this time as a coach. Phil retired at the end of the last season from Everton and has agreed to start his new career at the Old Trafford.


The 36-year-old former United player made 386 first team appearances for the club in 11 seasons. He won six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League before leaving for Everton in 2005.


David Moyes is delighted by the prospect of working with the former Everton player. He said:


"I have known and worked with Philip for eight years and in that time I have come to know his dedication, ability to lead and appetite for hard work," said the United boss.


"In addition, of course, he understands the club very well and I think his addition to the coaching staff will be a valuable one."


 Neville is also thrilled to rejoin his boyhood club as a coach, where he will have the assistance of Ryan Giggs, who has been appointed as a player –coach today.


"When I retired from football, I knew that I wanted to continue in the game," he said.


"It's something that I have been preparing for over the last few years. So when David called to give me this opportunity, I couldn't resist.


"I gave my all when I played for Everton, but it is no secret that this club is in my heart.


"I've really enjoyed working with David and his staff as a player and I think that, together with Ryan, we can make a real contribution to Manchester United."
