Aston Villa linked with move for Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Tottenham defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been linked with a shock move to Premier League rivals Aston Villa. The French defender has been told he is free to leave White Hart Lane.

The 29-year-old is hoping for a return to his homeland as he is reportedly done with English football, but Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is a huge fan of the left back and could make him his sixth signing of the summer.
