Llorente Says Juventus Has Liberated Him

Fernando Llorente has revealed that the switch to Juventus is a welcome change to his nightmare final season at Athletic Bilbao. He believes that the change of clubs proved to be “liberating” for him.

The 28-year-old had been associated with Athletic for nine-years before his relation with the club took the wrong turn. He was dropped by former coach Marcelo Bielsa and also lost his place in the national team, following his desire of leaving the club, which became public.

He told Tuttosport:

"The move to Juventus was liberating for me.

"The reception of the fans was something spectacular. Ever since I arrived, I've been happy to wear a jersey as prestigious as that of Juventus.

"I'm living the dream - growing as a player and I came to the best team to do so.”

The Spanish striker completed a move to the Serie A side, following a pre-contract agreement with the club in January. He has agreed on a four-year deal with the club. He will join the club along with the other new signees Carlos Tevez and defender Angelo Ogbonna.

Llorente said that he was learning to get accustomed to the ways of Italy.

"I have already made friends with everyone in the dressing room,” Llorente said. "For me it was very important to learn Italian before getting here."
