Sunderland enter race to sign Raul Meireles
Fenerbahce's midfielder Raul Meireles wants to leave Turkey and return to the Premier League. Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio is ready to make a 4 million Euro offer for the player.
According to reports, the former Liverpool and Chelsea man has told club directors that he is ready to quit the club, and the 30-year-old wants to move back to England.
Sunderland have been busy in the transfer market so far this summer, having already spent £10 million on new players.
It is understood that manager Di Canio wants to add the Portuguese international Meireles to his squad as he needs a holding midfielder for the new season.
