Wenger tells reporters: Arsenal can afford Rooney

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told reporters that his club have the financial strength to make an offer for Wayne Rooney, and could definitely afford his salary. It's understood that Rooney is pursuing a transfer away from Old Trafford.

Chelsea made an offer for the England forward yesterday that has already been rejected by David Moyes.


"Rooney is under contract and has two years to go so it’s United who make the decision. But we would not have a problem with the wages of Rooney," said Wenger
