West Brom leading race to sign Salomon Kalou
West Bromwich Albion are in pole position to sign Lille forward Salomon Kalou, according to reports from France. WBA's manager Steve Clarke wants to partner Kalou with his former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka at the Hawthorns.
The Ivory Coast forward has a release clause of 3.2 million Euros and subsequently a number of Premier League teams are in the race to sign the player. West Ham are also believed to be interested.
"When you’re chasing players you’re always making enquiries, always speaking to people," said Clarke. "It would be wrong for us to mention names, or comment on names. We are pursuing a number of targets.
"Now whether they fall out tomorrow or whether they fall next week no-one can tell. So you have to be patient – trust me you have to be really patient."
