Newcastle winning race to sign Darren Bent
Newcastle are hopeful that they will be able to complete a deal for Darren Bent. The England international is unwanted by his current club Aston Villa and Fulham have officially pulled out of the race for the Aston Villa frontman.
Newcastle want to sign Bent as a replacement for Demba Ba, who left last January. Bent currently earns a reported £80,000 a week at Villa Park and is prepared to take a small paycut to make the move to St James' Park. Newcastle have been locked in talks with Aston Villa for over 2 weeks for Bent, but have yet to agree a fee for the player.
The forward is in demand though, with several other team also ready to trump Newcastle's latest offer for the player.
